This recent daily prompt reminded me I had written on this topic a year ago. Some of my long-term readers will have read this post, but this is likely to be new content for recent subscribers. I have edited and updated last year’s post, but my favourite drinks remain the same.
One change, from last year, is that I am trying to swap some of my usual tea drinking to green tea. Why? The health benefits are well documented. The only problem is that I don’t like the taste or the strong, ‘silty’ perfume of green tea.
I am experimenting with adding either honey, lemon or ginger. Or maybe I should drink a weak version? Would this impact on the positive health benefits of this tea? All suggestions welcome!
Strangely enough since I started penning this post, I have remembered that when visiting Amsterdam, I had a Matcha Latte that I enjoyed. Fast forward to this week when I met a friend for coffee in a bookshop with a café and discovered they serve Matcha Latte. So, there is my solution on how to drink more green tea!
The random question ‘What is your favourite drink?’ comes from the #WordPress Daily Prompt. Having recovered from the Bloganuary challenge, I realised I enjoyed writing in a different style and producing new content. Therefore, if I like the look of the daily prompt, I will occasionally incorporate it into my blog.
The question in the title made me smile. I wonder if the friends who read this will immediately know my answer. Or maybe think they do!
When I’m in France, I drink black coffee, wine, and cold beer. I enjoy a ‘Kir Royale‘ as an apéritif or a chilled Sauvignon Blanc on a warm summer’s evening. Our local sparkling wine, Blanquette de Limoux is another favourite.
When in the UK, I drink wine, the occasional Gin and Tonic, and tea.
Of course, I drink other beverages; water, orange juice, herbal infusions, and chai latte, but if I have to name a favourite, it has to be tea. I like to drink strong ‘builder’s tea’, with milk but no sugar.
Tea is my first drink of the day, and I think there’s nothing to beat that initial sip of my cuppa. If I can have it in bed with a good book, even better!
If I’ve been out for a long dog walk, there’s nothing like a comforting cup of tea – or two – when I get home. In the words of Gladstone:
What is your favourite drink? I’d love to know!
Something which is going to be my favourite as long as the bottle lasts is Chamberyzette…a friend is bringing me a bottle from Gerry’s Wines and Spirits in Old Compton Street when he returns from running the London Marathon. It will revive the happy days of finding my feet and making friends when starting to work in London.
I wouldn’t mind a bottle of Duhomard either, to bring back the good times in the Cafe des Arts in Thouars…..

I must confess I’m not familiar with Chamberyzette nor Duhomard. I’ve researched them now and, on my return to France, I will see if I can taste them! Thank you for your comment and recommendations.

I’m afraid I loathe green tea, although I know it’s good for you. I drink wine – a nice chilled Pouilly Fumé goes down a rest in the summer – and coffee. I also like a mixture of cranberry and apple juice, which is very refreshing, and also supposed to be good for you! I don’t drink spirits or digestifs because I don’t like them.

You’re not alone in your loathing of green tea! I think it’s a beverage that divides people. I also enjoy Pouilly Fumé and I rarely drink spirits or liqueurs, Thank you for your comment.

I think my favourite drinks are cocktails.
Lemon tea first thing in the morning. Coffee at 10am … both rituals. Black tea I can take or leave now.
Gina and Tonic. Yep … nice low cal drink for the diet 🙂

I don’t drink many cocktails, although I guess Kir Royale would count as one, at a push, and I really like that!
Thanks for commenting ☺

My favourite hot drinks are cappuccino and weak black tea with lots of milk. I can’t abide fruit teas but also enjoy peppermint and or lemon and ginger. There are too many cold drinks to mention!

I’m a coffee girl, but had to reeducate myself to drink it black over here as the milk really doesn’t agree with me. Never drink tea, green or otherwise, the one exception being if I’m in Poland, where I have it with lemon. Like wine of any colour.

I’m intrigued about tea in Poland and wondering why you drink it there?! I grew up in the days of instant white coffee – ugh, in my opinion! I developed a taste for strong, black coffee from the moment I set foot on French soil!

Tea with milk and sugar is disgusting, in my world. When I went to meet the Polish family they drank a strong bitter coffee, black tea with lemon, or compote. I grew to quite like the tea 🤗💟

I agree about the sugar! I drink Earl Grey tea without milk but with lemon 😋

Very sensible! I must admit I can only drink (Belgian) beer or a cold lager, when it’s hot. Thanks for stopping by.

I rarely drink tea and when I do, it’s good old PG tips type tea . Milk, no sugar. I drink tea if I’m eating a scone or when I’m feeling icky, otherwise I’m a coffee drinker. I grew up drinking sugar laden cheap instant coffee. Then at eleven I went to stay with a penpal in Austria and discovered filtered coffee. I drank it by the bucket load and I drank it black without sugar. I couldn’t get enough of the stuff. I must have been as high as a kite with all that caffeine.
These days I’ll stick to one cup and when I’m out I’ll often have a flat white. I can’t stand lattes. What’s the point of them!
I prefer white wine over red and love an Austrian Grüner Veltliner or a Muscadet. If I’m on a cruise, I’ll go for the cocktails!!

I like a cup of Yorkshire tea, definitely no sugar! I drink strong black-filter coffee at home and also try to limit my consumption. I’m not familiar with Austrian wines, so I’ll have a look for the one you mentioned. I haven’t been on a cruise – yet – but I imagine cocktails are synonymous with cruising. Thanks for dropping by.
