I’m going off-piste today with this wonderful prompt! I’ve always been slightly obsessed with smells, perfumes, scents, whatever you want to call them. I don’t think the power of a particular smell, which can evoke a memory, can be underestimated.
I’ve also been obsessed with France and for a previous post I asked ‘What-is-the-essence-of-France?’ In other words ‘What does France smell like?’ I think this post links to the prompt perfectly! I wonder what you think?
I’m attracted by the thumbnail! I never been to France so I don’t know the smell of France haha! (I want to go to France).

We recently moved to Oregon coast because it smells right. Before that we lived in the state of Colorado, which was dry and deserty. It wasn’t bad at all, a bit high up there which gives you great views but not smells, if you know what I mean. Here in Oregon due to humidity smells are extremely potent. The views are stunning too. I also noticed that birds love humidity as well, so you can imagine the natural fragrances combined with birds singing year round. It’s quite magical!

I’ve never been to France although it’s on my bucket list. And this is such an interesting post. I guess all places have distinct smells. Off to read the one you linked.

To this day I have a very good sense of smell. Yes, smells are s important and I think I’ve said this before but when I as younger France had a very very strong smell – less so now, but it’s still distinctive. Whenever I smell burnt toast I have vivid memories of my mother burning the toast – we didn’t have a toaster so she grilled the bread under the gas flamed grill and it always burnt!

Interestingly, countries do often have their own smell. When I used to take students to France, on school visits, they often used to complain about the smell! I think drains were often the culprit back in the day!
I was very pleased to read that you have your IT issues sorted out with your blog. I haven’t been notified of your posts recently but I’ve gone looking for them!
