Originally, the umbrellas were an art installation. They are all over the world. I’m seen them in several places in France and also in Belfast. The ones in my photo, in Carcassonne, were also installed to offer some shade as it gets very hot in the summer.
Oh, I love these! We had something very similar in Jerusalem not so long ago. They look so colourful.
