I’m surprised by what thought pops into my mind when I first see the daily prompt.
Today was Shakespeare and his Seven Ages of Man. It is part of the most famous speech in ‘As You Like It’. It begins, ‘All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players’.
But I digress! A phase in life suggests something long-term, but I’m thinking of a year I spent in France. I had exchanged my teaching post in London for a job working in a French secondary school in Metz. I taught English for a year – a brilliant experience. I can remember crying all the way back to the UK. This was awkward, as I was driving!
Of course, this wasn’t the end of my visits to France, but I will never forget this amazing – if short – phase of my life.

Having to accept giving up work to look after my husband. Glad to look after him, but really hard to leave the work, the clients and the colleagues.

Thank you for your honest comment, Helen. I can’t imagine what that must be like because I am fortunate not to have been in that situation, although I would gladly look after my husband too.

When I decided to retire earlier than I had initially intended, I was sooo ready for it in many ways. And yet it was a bit of a wrench to leave it behind. At first I tried to stay in touch with a few of the industry people, but soon realized that in most cases the work in that field was really all we had in common. ~ Jean | DelightfulRepast.com

In my case, work was an important aspect of my identity. It was work place politics that pushed me to retire from a job I had loved. However, I still keep in touch with several people from work who had become close friends. Thanks for your comment, Jean.
