For the last two years, I have participated in #Bloganuary, a WordPress challenge. Bloggers are invited to produce a daily post based on a specific prompt.
This was the perfect challenge for me! As an undisciplined blogger, my approach is best described as ad hoc. I usually write posts whenever an idea strikes rather than sticking to a regular schedule.
Some bloggers produce a daily post, while others post weekly or monthly. I am full of good intentions, but I don’t necessarily deliver. You can imagine my delight at completing Bloganuary 2023 and 2024!
By participating in Bloganuary 2025, I wanted to make it a hat-trick. In December, I eagerly awaited notification from WordPress that bloggers should register their interest in Bloganuary 2025. Nothing, nada, zilch, zero, naught – you get my drift. Another challenge was suggested instead which didn’t appeal to me.
Not to be put off, I decided instead to approach Bloganuary 2025 differently. I planned to post throughout January using #dailyprompt – problem solved! Again, I was thwarted. The daily prompt for January 1st 2025 is the same as for Bloganuary last year. If you want to read what I wrote for Bloganuary 01.01/2024, follow this link: https://fancyingfrance.com/2024/01/01/bloganuary-day-1-what-are-your-biggest-challenges/

Back to the drawing board. My latest plan is to try blogging every day in February, according to the word prompt of the day. Does ‘Blogruary’ sound bizarre?!

Hahaha! I wonder if there is a team of people employed somewhere with the sole purpose of inventing these ‘trendy’ names…

I also waited for Bloganuary 2025.
Such a shame it’s disappeared.

I don’t recall any WordPress emails mentioning they would do Bloganuary this year. They usually announce what they are going to do, but my guess is that they may have dropped it to concentrate on something else. I’m not sure what, but I see posts with a daily prompt mentioned. However, the daily prompt seems to be something WordPress has done for quite some time. Maybe that could help with your challenge of writing a blog post every day for a month, June?

I didn’t get an email, but something appeared in my reader: https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/25823/posts/5497628483. This challenge didn’t appeal to me, but I think in February, I might try doing a post every day following the daily prompt. Thanks for your comment, and Happy New Year, Hugh.

It kinda stinks of chaos management theory. You change things and watch everyone freak out and reinvent themselves. Then you look at the outcomes that provide a good cost benefit. Ah not sure I should have studied management theory.

That’s awesome! I saw Paris but still need to come back to find some hidden bakeries for the best croissant. I think this program could be interesting for you: https://perutours.nl/academy/
