No doubt this will sound cheesy, but I believe I did have my dream job as a teacher and later as a trainer. However, this wasn’t a career path I wanted to pursue from being a child – far from it! In fact, when it was suggested to me that I might be suited to teaching, my initial reaction was ‘You must be joking!’. I didn’t want to be a teacher, mainly for shallow reasons.

After school I opted to take a degree combining languages and business. Two weeks before I was due to take up my place, I had a lightbulb moment and realised I had made the wrong choice. As luck would have it, I changed courses; the rest is history.

Teaching was never my ‘dream job,’ but it was something that I loved, even with its many challenges, especially when working in London. It was fun – mostly- and I never got bored! I felt privileged to go on to training teachers, another fabulous job. I have remained friends with the some of the people who attended my courses, but teachers and headteachers can be demanding and difficult, too!

For last year’s Bloganuary, we were given the prompt, ‘what was your dream job as a child?’ If you don’t know already and wish to find out, read on!
