As soon as I read this WordPress Daily Writing prompt, I knew this was one for me! My dream chocolate bar would have to be made with dark chocolate. I’m not a fan of milk or white chocolate, particularly the latter. However, if I was desperate then I might force myself to have a bar of milk chocolate!
I have always been a fan of dark chocolate, and these days I like a bar that contains at least 70% cocoa. According to experts, this is good news for my health, as dark chocolate provides antioxidants and can help with gut well-being. Fortunately, I find that two squares of good quality dark chocolate are sufficient, no need to scoff a whole bar!
Although my dream chocolate bar is plain, dark chocolate, I thought it might be interesting to see which chocolate bars are the most popular in the UK. Researching this turned out to be quite frustrating because the results differed according to the source. Nevertheless, not one to be deterred, I have devised a list of the ten most popular chocolate bars in the UK but in no particular order.
- Cadbury’s Dairy Milk
- Wispa
- Kit Kat
- Twirl
- Flake
- Snickers
- Crunchie
- Twix
- Galaxy
- Mars Bar
I did notice that Cadbury’s Dairy Milk topped the list of several sites.

What a delicious post. It’s dark chocolate all the way for me. I recently discovered Violet Crumble covered in dark chocolate so that is one of my new favorites next to dark chocolate covered caramels, peanut butter cups, and truffles!

Glad to know you share my love of dark chocolate, Darlene! I’m not familiar with Violet Crumble covered in dark chocolate, perhaps it’s not available in the UK?! I’m not a fan of truffles but I do like dark chocolate bars that contain nuts 😋😋

Violet Crumble is a honeycomb candy from Australia (I just learned it’s also called Crunchie). It’s not widely available here in the U.S. – I can only find it at World Market. 😀

Interesting! We have Crunchie bars in the UK but they are honeycomb covered with milk chocolate.

I love dark chocolate but never used to. My taste buds must have changed over time as I used to always eat milk. Likewise with cheese I’m now rather partial to blue cheese which I used to hate. I’m not sure if I’ve got a favourite chocolate bar but I do like both Wispa and Snickers. My favourite brand of chocolate is the Finnish Fazer as it’s not quite as sweet as Cadburys or Lindt. Problem is I can only get it in Finland or Sweden.

I think it’s true that our taste buds change over time but I’ve always preferred dark chocolate, even as a child. I’ve never heard of Fazer chocolate but, as you know, I’ve never visited Scandinavia. I hope you stock up on chocolate when you visit Finland!

I am a fan of dark chocolate too. Normally I eat dark chocolate with 70-80% cocoa. I love Swiss dark chocolate. They are so delicious.
