Continuing the news theme, here are two more stories that have caught my eye recently:

Firstly, I was interested to read that France has declared that all new rooftops must be topped with plants or solar panels. A law recently passed decrees that all new buildings that are built in commercial zones must be partially covered in either plants or solar panels.

Secondly, France is to force big supermarkets to give unsold food to charities. French supermarkets will be banned from throwing away or destroying unsold food and must instead donate it to charities or for animal feed, under a law set to crack down on food waste. The French national assembly voted unanimously to pass the legislation.  The councillor, whose campaign led to this law, is aiming to getting similar legislation passed worldwide.  If you want to find out more, here’s the link from the online Guardian:
