Les tartes françaises!

I have been intending to write this post for some time and the arrival of sunshine and warmer days has prompted me to do so. I adore French pâtisseries, probably too much! But how does one choose when there are so many delightful possibilities? For me, it’s always ‘les tartes ‘ – lemon, chocolate, mixed fruits … So many to try.

But what is the definition of a tart? According to the Cambridge Online Dictionary, it is ‘an open pastry case with a filling, usually of something sweet such as fruit.’

Here are some of my favourites:

Tarte aux pommes

French tart

Actually eaten on London’s South Bank…!

Tarte au chocolat

One of the largest fruit tarts I have ever bought, in Montpellier, and one of the tastiest!

Tarte au citron

Tarte tatin

Tarte aux mirabelles

Tarte aux myrtilles

Tartelettes aux fruits

These were yummy, too!
